These pants like many that you buy at the store came with back pockets that I never use. Not only do I not use them but you can see the outline of the pocket through the back of the pants making the rear view not very smooth. I decided to cut and sew the pockets very short to remove the excess fabric from my rear making the pants look much nicer in the back, like pants without pockets. The nice welt at the pocket opening is still there but the thick outline of pocket fabric on the rear is missing. It looks so much better plus I don't have to worry about reaching in and smoothing down the pockets so they are not bunching up looking like I stuffed a bunch of wrinkled tissue in them (you all know what I mean). I've shown finished and unfinished pockets to help you better understand what it is I am talking about. Happy sewing.
